I got my car from a dealership. Tell them u can give em 20 cash TODAY ! right now ! It also helps if you rock up at the end of the month. they have to meet their quota.

Another tactic that i've seen work is to ask them what they'd get as a commission if they sell it to you for 20k vs 24k, and then offer to make up the difference in cash out the back
I did this and saved $8000 on my car

I did the whole deal over the net whilst I was working in Newman.

Cash is here with me, ehm but the one make me confuse if the redbook says it's worth 19k-24500k for trade in and they had it advertised for 25990 and 24990 what price do you reckon they got it for ? i would go myself today and offer them 20k for a start. but it is an exclusive dealer they will look down on me hehe but worth a try

get realistic guys, dealers survive on the second hand marked (not much in a new car) and the mark up is anything from 4000 to 6000 for a used car ,and a *three months warranties. Buying private is the way to go, make sure you go hunting with some one that knows about cars and the savings will offset all the crap about “dealer’s warranties” and all the associated BS that goes with….

*warranties is a bit of red herring, between 60.000 and 130.000K don’t expect much to go wrong with a Subaru , that is, no mods.

Just go in there and say here is $20K take it or leave it. If they say piss off, then leave.

Easy!

They could have got the vehicle for any amount of money, it just depends on what got traded.

Who cares what they think of you?

This is all about you getting the best value for your hard earned and/or drug money!

Walk around the lot, until a salesman comes to greet you. He'll do the "how can I help you" thing and you say "I like that car, how much is it?"

He'll say 24990.

You say "I like it" but I'm not paying more than 19500.

Give him a business card, and say "If you can help me out, give me a call and I will buy it today" Then walk away and wait for the phone to ring.

He will ring because he needs food to live.

Make your offer and then leave... If they are keen to sell the car they will ring. If you get stuck at the dealers they will try and grind you down with "sales Manager Bull #@$t". Tell them your serious and show them the folders and get out.

P.S why would you spend good cash on car??? get them down to 7% finance after you agree on the 20k price thats cheap payments.. They also get commision on the finance and that sweetens the deal for them.
