we have had our staffy going on 13 years now and it has never even looked like she has a problem with our nephews or nieces when they have been around

they are one of the most loyal dogs i have ever had around and ours follows us everwhere at home

the mother inlaw has been attacked by a dog and really isn`t at ease around most dogs but our dog just seems to know this and really is extra friendly around her and is now one of only a couple of dogs she feels relaxed around

would recommend one for a family dog as they love to be around people and enjoy the company and will chase a ball all day if your up to throwing it around for them

Its more of a toy dog but my olds have a West Highlander cross Maltese and its got alot of energy, never agressive, if anything gets over excited and pisses on peoples leg when it was VERY young.

Is an outside dog gets to about 10kgs and stops so its not overly expensive to feed either.

No real health issues, very low maintenance, short coat, and boxers LOVE excercise. My two were well trained and would run along at my side no problems.

They also have a big deep bark and look pretty strong, so there were never any problems with burglars.
x2, best dogs ever...friendly, but they do love to be active! only thing is my past two boxers died at 7/8 from heart mumors. Current one is 9 and going strong

i would have to suggest a staffy, for what you suggested there. They are pretty good with kids, and great companions. My girlfriends family have had 2 since i have known them, and they are pretty cool dogs. Just show them some attention, and remember they have lock jaw, so maybe getting the kids to play tug ' o ' war with it is not highly recommended.

i think any dog will be good with kids if its brought up with them. Staffys are strong dogs my nan n pop had one but had to get rid of it cos it was too strong for them when it jumped on them n stuff n i imagine a small child would be even easier to knock down. They got so much energy. Its all personal preference i think. Mine is a rotti.

I reckon pretty much any dog will be good if you are prepared to spend the time training it when it is young, if it has half decent parents then you are onto a winner....
this mutt is 3 now, never seen an angry look in it ever, in fact i don't know if angry is even in her vocab....

Wow - thank you to everyone for the information. At this point I would be leaning toward a Labrador or a Boxer. The Staffy seems a little rough for out little one.

If anyone knows of any pups going please let me know.

Very much appreciated once again.
