I was able to using Quickpwn for the 2.0 firmware series.

Jailbreaking as far as im aware doesn't really change anything, it just "adds on" Cydia and Installer

Yes you can as jailbreaking does not affect the app store. Better still, you can install mipatch through Cydia and download ripped apps from torrent sites for freeee!
