I assume they are talking about the Regional Roads......in which case they are more than likely correct in saying 250 years...
1 person on the tools, and another 5 to supervise

It seams to me that they don't give enough thoughy to future expansion. A big example being the Roe Highway... Recently built supposably major road - yet they make it only two lanes. I've been driving the Roe for 2-3 years and its been getting steadily busier and busier. I would guess in another year or so it will be like the freeway.
Even the new Perth to Bunbury freeway thats being built at the moment, again only two lanes????? What's the point of that! They should at the very least make it 3 lanes, but would be better with 4+. If you look over east, most of there major freeways are 5+ lanes wide which flow really well. They do smart things like when they wanted to add a bus lane between the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Instead of taking lanes out of the existing freeway, they built it along side the edge of the freeway. Asides from the benefit of not loosing lanes out of the freeway, they also didn't have to put up with 2 years of road works changing the freeway down to 40k's p/h.

Roundabouts are the way forward. They dont cost anything to run, they cant fail and traffic barely ever has to stop even during rush hour. They are even better during quite periods because you dont have to stop for nothng. |

+1 On the roundabouts. That be a wise move. Traffic lights on suburban streets are a waste of time.

mitchell freeway south is a prime example, they close a lane for 5 fucking km and then put 3 blokes on the job to install new crash barriers... wft? its gonna take em a year at the rate they're going
