Avoid..

Epic Espresso: Overrated and full of fanboys despite the hype, they think that a 10ml shot (done that way to prevent "bitterness") tastes great in 200ml of hot milk.
Well, that was an anti-climax

Ok without bagging out other shops (just because I am a fanboy of another shop) and in no order my favorites are

Epic - West Perth
Velvet - City
Tiger Tiger - City
Spring - Subiaco
Six Clicks West - Nedlands

Alot of coffee is going to come down to personal taste. So I find the above the best that suit my taste.

If you are looking to broaden your tastes and the like I recommend going to shops and tasting espressos or ristrettos not milk based drinks as it will give you a better feel and understanding of coffee in its true form.

If you have your own machine at home and are looking for a good spot to buy beans (ground or whole). I recommend www.fivesensescoffee.com.au lots of single origins and blends to choose from and delivered to your door for 4 bucks.

Velvet is good
Cafe 77 is my favourite at the moment (in Allendale square ground floor obove the emporio bar)

Home coffee
www.purecrema.com.au has the best coffee I have tasted for home coffee. You can get a samplers pack for $50 odd

Velvet is good, but the size is too small and overpriced IMHO. And the wait there is just stupid because of the popularity, even at 630/7 in the morning.

Goto Pauls Provisions shop on St Georges Terrace (about 220'ish, next to the ANZ), they use the same coffee beans and machine as Velvet, have a bigger size for a cheaper price AND about 10x less wait! The chicks that make the coffee have all been professionally trained as well so they know what they are doing.

Dome FTW. They use gold plated beans.

John and Darren would agree.
