I am right.

This is lifted straight from the Road Traffic Act 1974

road means any highway, road or street open to, or used by, the public and includes every carriageway, footway, reservation, median strip and traffic island thereon;

As for Traffic Crashes.. Police will only attend if there is Injuries, Alcohol or Drugs, Damage to property (buildings mainly or the traffic is congested due to the vehicles being stuck on the road..

Far as i read mARC was giving people a polite headsup on the matter at hand. Googling and copying DPI quotations is quite remedial and im sure if anyone was so concerned as to where you can or cannot be pulled over, they would visit the deparment of planning and infrastructure website to findout where they stand

Cheers mARC, good to see you are looking out for others mate. I find it rather odd that the DPI can give out permits for such things as gauges and whatnot, yet an officer can deny them and demand an engineering certificate. The thing that gets me is you pay the extra money for the permits, which can be rejected at the discretion of the officer (or so i am lead to believe).

That or polietly telling them to fuck off.
Negative... they like the police presence around.

Marc, probies are not there to hold dick, nor do they all hold smug looks. As eric said you were just giving the guys a heads up, no problemo just be careful how you word things i think

There has been a few complaints about coppers not knowing what to sticker and what not to sticker... so if they are training probies on inspections... thats a good thing! A petrol station is a nice big area with good lighting (especially if it is being done at night) and its safer (for coppers and for the driver of the vehicle) than being pulled over on the side of the road. A wide variety of cars would come in too, everyone needs to fill up!

If your car is roadworthy you should have nothing to worry about. Probies got to learn some how... and believe me they target all sorts of cars, especially now with the new impoundment laws.

With permits for modifications (which I'll have to follow up, or someone in the biz can clarify) the only way they can be rejected is if the particular modification is not as it should be. From the DPI website ---> "These documents are proof that the vehicle is safe when used as the conditions on the permit dictate". If your running things as per the permit says then there shouldn't be a problem... I also stress the word shouldn't.

Ps: Yes I googled... to add good effect to my 2 cents
