Time for an update!
I've been doing a LOT of flying since I built the first HK-450 back in January.... My personal Heli has had a few upgrades to fly as I like it to (read very twitchy!). Things I've upgraded: Complete alloy Rotor head Carbon fibre main frames (save weight add stiffness) Trex 450 pro canopy (lightweight f/glass) 4000 kv motor (pulling 55 amps!) 60 amp Esc 4S - 14.4v 2200mah lipo batteries Digital (0.07/60) tail servo The biggest changes were fitting the KBB tail blades & flybar paddles, Roll rate is now about 3 rolls per second v's 1 roll per sec with the stock paddles...very grin worthy! I'm also running 4 cell packs in it now for more punch (power), it's pulling 55 amp peaks which calculates out to 670 watts! ......he he! Quite a power upgrade from the 300w original set up! The head speed I've settled on is 3200 rpm with the carbon blades and +/- 12 degrees collective pitch, on 4S there is no bogging at all, ever! I have had to use an align trex 450 fibre glass canopy to correct the centre of gravity when using the heavier 4S batteries....+ It's purdy. Hk-450 in drag....Trex 450 Pro canopy is 1/4 the weight of the original one.^^

I just recently been interested in helis and i just got an e-flite blade msr as a gift and i think its great for indoor flying. Takes quite a beating too. But i think i've Kind of mastered it now. Its only 4 channel but the speed and stability it has is quite amazing for a non co-axial. Thinking of upgrading to a 3d one down the track. I guess you guys recommend the t-rexx then? Any of you guys flying with mode 1 out there?

I'm a mode 1 flyer (from flying fixed wing since I was a kid).
3d is harder to learn with mode 1, you need to be able to mix cyclic on the two sticks v's mode 2 where all the cyclic is on the one stick.... I'd recomend the HK-450 or Copter X 450 over the Trex, it's 1/3 the price for what is an exact copy of the trex 450 v2. 450 size heli's are a good size to enable you to learn 3d but small enough to be flown anywhere. Once you step up to 500 size you double the set up cost & battery costs.

Yeah was given mode 1 by accident. Gave it a try but found it impossible.
And thats just a 4 channel!! You must be quite pro. Yeah i overlooked what you mentioned above, Just saw trex and thought thats what you had. I'll look into the 450 for sure.. Cheers for that. |

Heli Porn arrived today!
(Just in time for my 3 week holiday break...Woo Hoo!!) Introducing the new HK450GT-PRO This is a completely new helicopter, designed for hard 3D flying & high head speeds (3500 rpm) Got Carbon? Hmm...This should be hard to kill! Note all the CNC alloy supports & Tail servo mount^^ CNC alloy rotor head assembly.......18 ball bearings in there somewhere! There's zero slop in this new head design. (This has been supplied to me as a working sample) New RJX Carbon blades (these rock!): The 'Fleet' Left to right: 450GT-PRO, HK450 (upgraded head etc), Stock out of the box HK450 The HK450GT-PRO is a direct clone of the Trex 450 (ie an exact carbon copy) Bert Kammerer putting it through it's paces ->
