Might I point out that there is a Performance car of the year award that the GTR would likely win. Would quite happily argue if it didn't but the car of the year is a little more skewed towards daily usability and I wouldn't contemplate a GTR ahead of a lot of other cars if that what I was looking for.

I must be getting old and soft but that sums up the majority of the car buying public.

Maybe so but it doesnt make me like it. To me it represents everything I have come to hate about modern cars...its overstyled, massively overweight, to complex and stupidly expensive to buy and stupidly expensive to run.

I yearn for someone to start making back to basics drivers cars...2 seats, 2 doors, 300BHP and RWD with a proper mechanical LSD instead of these shite brake grabbing electric things. Junk all this ABS / EBD / Stability control lark and make the driver learn that the foot controls are not on / off switches. Get rid of the stupid looking 19 inch rims with rubber band tyres that even the most mundane cars seem to come with now and get back to rims and tyres that dont kill steering response and that allow the car to move around.

The GTR just leave me absolutely cold

Go and drive a sub 900KG car without power steering, ABS, stability control and trick AWD and with a proper manual gearbox and a LSD between the rear wheels and tell me a GTR is more fun.

Then try a 500KG car and tell me the 900KG car was more fun!

I could be....

A Stingray might not be the latest blue-ray HDMI spec performance car but its a car that can be USED on todays roads. At speeds that are comfortable on the road a GTR is barely worried, totally pointless as a road car and to compromised to be a genuine track car. The Stingray can be driven within limits that wont get you noticed but are still approaching the limit of the car.

I'm probably fighting a losing battle against you guys but I have come to find there are few modern cars that attract me...they are HUGE now, to heavy and desensitized with limits beyond what mere mortals can explore comfortably.
