Yeah Velocity, was previously on dial up at a whopping 48kb on a good
day!!!

I wasn't to sure exactly how fast it was as the network speeds on my
laptop always say 100kbps.

We're on the fastest plan available for velocity 100000/5000kbps but
I'm not sure if were getting anywhere near that, I only have a 10/100
Ethernet so this might be a restriction.

Any tips on how to maximise the plans speeds?

plan is maximised from the looks of it, there is always some variation in link speed depending on quality distance etc, you will never get the full advertised speed.

Time to get gigabit ethernet card/gear if thats the case. Dont know if I would personally bother as you may not see those full speeds downloading reguarly

I am also on Velocity 100mbit.
I've managed to get up to 12MB/sec while downloading.
however 90% of whats out there doesn't even crack 300kb/sec.

Its normally around 70 from when I check when we first connected last year but didn't really
know much about what it should be and what was fast or slow.

How much would I be looking at for a Gig ethernet card/gear? I've only got a Dell lappy at the
moment so unsure as to what I need.
