I put stainless steel 50W spot lights in each corner (at the top of post level), pointed up & towards the centre of the roof. Works well as I didn't want it too bright, and you get a nice diffused light. Also can redirect one spotty down onto the BBQ, so I can see what I'm burning.

as for general light, down lights maybe to hard with that sort of roof, maybe fluros down the centre in that resessed part,

Thats pretty awesome. I am guessing if you had gone white over blue that would have been adequate lighting for that gazebo though? I take it the wiring runs along the top of the beam? What was your spacing - Approx every 1m?

I think this is the Lightrail system I saw at One Stop Patio Shop in Canning Vale.

Another Option I looked into was the Crompton Track Lighting

Although these solutions arent as sexy as down lights, the functionality is awesome. You can add remove reposition lights as you see fit, plus it works out cost effective for me to cover 14.5m x 4m and 10m x 2m patios (well, the crompton anyway, yet to price up Lightrail).

I think downlights will also be hard work to dress up under a patio like ours....Alfrescos or Glosswood lined patios are a different story....

Yeah your probably right those if white would have given out more light. I went for the blue though as i wasnt looking for light in that area as such.
Yep wires go over top of beams .

that was a pack of 10 i have so on the long sides there is 3 and the two short sides 2.

if you got the 20 pack of those led deck lights you could mount them into the beams you have around,
just be a bit of work getting cables inside and around but will be worth the effort.
or even get two packs. will give plenty of light if you get the white.

Also will use next to no power

I have that sheeting on my patio roof and the best way I found was to use up lights and bounce the light of the sheets. That way it's a nice defused light and there is no light directly in your eyes no matter where you sit.

I'll take some pics of the lights and post them up later today.

Cheers,

Wrxpc

Not the best example but this is a shot from my cctv
showing the light spread from my downlights with people around,
soft enough and thats 5 downlights one in the centre and 4 evenly spaced around.

Good to see some other peoples idea's as I am looking at this myself.
The only problem I have is area coverage as my patio is 12m x 6m and unfortunately I may have to go with double batten fluro's (fully sealed weather proof) on the 3/4 trusses.
But I do like some of the ambient colour idea's for around the spa and bar.
