Thats not good! I was hoping that 'real' setups would yield better results but that doesn't seem to be the case so far.

Thanks for the info GTB.

Setup position and LOS seems critical with the Poliscans. As such, the bushes certainty inhibited an alert from a farther distance as did the placement on a slight curve on the inside of the curve.

you know how it pin get you from 40- 75 meters away, how does it do this?
does it take a photo of you from that distance, or does it take a photo of you when u get closer to the camera?

if so how does it track you if you change lanes etc?

poliscan out on the roe highway northbound before tonkin highway exit this morning before lunch.

looked like a dark blue rav-4 looking after it, and the operator looking mightly pleased with himself when setting it up.

No, it takes a photo when you are closer (like the Multanovas) but begins the speed calculation from 40ish metres.

I'm not 100% certain about the changing lanes thing, but suspect it would be susceptible to cosine error like all "slant cameras"

In the time you took to write the question - you could have the answer.

Just remember cosine error works in favour of the driver, not the cops.

The more lanes, the more angle of the dangle, the less accurate the speed measurement is.

Unless of course these new machines compensate for that, which would be pretty easy to implement!

Had another opportunity today to try a V1 against a Poliscan. Can't say it brought any positive feelings regarding the V1 against the Poliscan excepting that the V1 alerted on all forward facing passes when the Poliscan was active.

Poliscan was on a major arterial road SoR (street name withheld). Camera was set up forward facing three lanes in the centre island visually hidden behind a dense cover of bushes until I was practically on top of the camera. Only a forward facing camera was set up (no rear camera for motorbikes?).

Could only do distance calculations based off the GPS vehicle speed and time from warning to level with camera. Low position seemed the best with approx 6.5 seconds (approx 115m meters) warning even though on the pass I was in the lane adjacent to the camera.

Next run with V1 in high position led to a 5 second (approx 90 meters) warning even though I was in the lane furthest from the camera. V1 warning was approximately the same as visual sighting distance.

No warning travelling in the opposite direction at all, however, the camera was facing away from opposite lanes and hidden by bushes.

Finally, there was no buildings or vehicles (in general) for laser scatter to occur. I did see one vehicle flashed during the various passes - not me as I was 5 Km below the limit for all passes.

The use of the Multinova 6F is still occurring as I passed two units on separate days in the Western Suburbs. As such, the use of radar detectors is still useful in finding the Multinovas that are still being used. Also, the fixed speed/red light cameras are active as I have seen one flash another driver and had an associate booked by one with the ticket in the mail.
All very true. I passed a forward facing poliscan on Saturday on Wanneroo Rd between Hepburn and Whitfords Ave. I got a quick alert on the rear when passing on the other side of the road (going opposite direction obviously) even across the 4 lanes of traffic plus island plus bushes. Picked it up from a good 100 metres away when coming towards it. Probably just as i got line of sight. It'll be worrying when they start using them rear facing...
