I went through one in my local school zone - 40kph limit, it flashed red like 5 times at me. I have no idea how I could have been speeding I was turning out of a carpark onto a traffic filled road. I have not yet received an Infringement..

^ Don't worry about it Sync - they would have been testing/calibrating the unit. You won't get an infringement notice.

I picked up a Poliscan today with the V1 from approximately 600m.... from the rear!!!
The V1 was alerting continuously for about 200m before pausing for some time and then continuing to alert.
It looks like we may have a chance against some rear setups

Detection from the front was reduced as there was a bend just before the camera but the V1 began to alert as soon as the road began to straighten, providing over 200m warning.

The camera was forward facing, on Whitfords Ave in Padbury (westbound, between Eddystone and Alexander)

What, you mean that the V1 was providing a warning from the rear sensor 600 meters from the Poliscan OR that you had a V1 front warning 600m from a Poliscan facing the reverse direction of your direction of travel?

If the later - was it raining?

Back on topic: It was the latter. So I was traveling east, the camera was pointing east, and the V1 alerted to the front approximately 600m before passing the camera. So a 600m warning while approaching the camera from the rear! It wasn't raining. The road was still a little damp but there was no standing water.

Yes, it is legal to set up a camera when it's raining.

Flabbergasted - an occasion where I wish you had video to show for analysis. 600m is a massive warning.

I turned around and did a quick half run so I have a video showing approx 250m warning from the rear (it alerted as soon as I turned back onto Whitfords). I couldn't be bothered going all the way back to Marmion Av in peak hour though.

There was nothing unusual about the way it was set up. I'd say that it was reflecting the signal back either from the oncoming traffic or from something else (sign, bus stop, light pole etc).

Is this the same with hand helds then? I've been done twice before in the rain with hand helds and both times I was apparently (according to the gun) doing just under 40kms over the limit each time to which the fines were massive and so were the loss of demerits.

Truthfully I would have only been say 15-25 over.
