Why not buy like 6-8 22B's....

Why waste it on a commodore..?

Big dollars... but I doubt he'd lose money on it if he sold it in a few years...

it is just a 2 door TAXI,

and even if I could afford a 22B I would not buy one,

I'd rather a spec c ra-R.

I guess a clean million means less to this guy than the missing piece to his dream collection. People pay what they think it's worth to them. He's obviously fanatical about the cars and in a position to pay for them. Good on him.
If he's crazy for spending that much then at least someone else has his money.

Exactly. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Someone who collects Australian Monaros will pay through the nose to get it.

The rest of the world will wonder what all the fuss is about.

A real investment would be an international classic car, as then you are selling it to the world at a later date.

I'm sure there are lots of Holden fans out there that would say a 22B isn't worth the metal is it made from. But we all know that's just not true, and we all would have one in a heartbeat if we had the money.
Finally someone that has sense.

It's not just a monaro, alit of the parts put into it were developed from the v8 supercars. Suspension, engine, fuel system, brakes etc. Then you've got the whole motec catalogue thrown in there. There's alot of things people can't see. It was suspected that Holden spent over 500k in r&ding this car.

Lastly someone with that sort of coin can probaly buy whatever he wants. A million to us is probaly like 100k to him.

Also. A bit of history.

Quote:
BATHURST 24 HOURS, NOV 22-23, 2003
FINAL RESULT after 24 hours (45 started, 33 finished)

1 MONARO (Brock, Murphy, Bright, T Kelly), 257 laps, 3567 km
2 MONARO (Tander, Richards, Pretty, McConville) +0.35s
3 PORSCHE 911 GT3 RC (Morris, Fitzgerald, Sherman, Teulan) +12 laps
4 PORSCHE 993 GT3 S CUP (Alzen, Alzen, Bartels, Klasen) +13 laps class B winner
5 MOSLER MT 900R (Short, Pearce, Lamb, Spurle) +20 laps
6 PORSCHE GT3 CARRERA CUP (Quinn, Quinn, Marshall, Denyer) +32 laps
7 PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS (Floyd, Donaldson, Donaldson, Halliday) +36 laps
8 LAMBORGHINI DIBALO GTR (Stokell, Simonsen, Youlden, Hackett) +40 laps
9 PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS (Koundourids, Power, Freestone, Wall) +40 laps
10 BMW M3 (Boylan, Morgan, Hansen, Bates) +58 laps class D winner
Brock raced in a GRM prepared HRT427. 1 of 2 entered. The monaros winning 1st and 2nd place by 12 laps in a fairly decent field of cars. Brocks 10th win at the holy grail..
The genuine HRT427 is a bathurt killer icon for many Holden fans.

Don't really see the appeal. In another 50 years it might be a different story, but the owner might not still be alive in 50 years.

I agree totally with your idea of internationally collectable cars,

I see something like an Aston Martin DB5 as a better investment.

but each to their own.

I am just jealous, because I don't have a cool million in disposable funds for such an investment.
