I support 6 iPhones and 8 BlackBerry 9000's where I work, given you don't use the BB for business use, you're most likely on BIS.

You just sold yourself on a 9700.

The ONLY reason you would get an iPhone over a BB is because you like the apps/iTunes/games/touch screen.
BlackBerry trumps all others on battery life, phone quality, reception, usability and compatibilities.
Not to mention the way the BB's compress data to be sent over the network and won't bend you over when roaming.
And the C-C-C-C-C-Combo Breaker, iPhones can't multitask* (*yet, coming in firmware v4 (months away)).
eg. Skype is open, chatting to your friend. Recieve email, open email app... Skype is closed and you're offline. Most IRRITATING thing ever I assure you.

My 2c, I'm super biased, as I hate iPhones... Google Nexus One FTW!

GO BOLD!

Bottom line:
If you want pretty apps, games, music and pictures, get an iFail.
Else, get a BB9700.

Default iPhone 3GS or BB Bold 9700?

The iPhone can do pretty much anything as long as it's jailbroken.

Only negative of the iPhone is the battery life, 1day with will use.

I love my Bold 9700!

Its definitely the best standard format (physical keypad) phone available, just a little light on apps.

Android for the win, imho the latest generation HTCs walk all over the Apple IPhone, in hardware muscle, features and programmability. The best touchscreen phones available.

It comes down to whether you like touch or keys.

I've got both (iPhone for home, BB for work) and the two do not even compare.

You say you won't use applications, but thats because there are no decent ones for a BB. Even little things like being able to check the weather through a handy application on the iPhone I missed when I didn't have my iPhone for a week. I also find the iPhone easier to surf the net on, Safari absolutely wipes the floor with the BB internet navigator. Every little thing the BB does the iPhone does about 50 times better and easier. The touch screen is so much easier to navigate on than the keypad on the BB, plus the large visual display of the iPhone is much better than the small one on the BB.

Just get insurance for $7 a month so if the phone breaks you get it replaced.

Take it from me, I use both back to back day in day out and if I didn't need the BB for work I wouldn't consider it.

Just watch out for the older HTC's that run WM. Learnt the hard way that these are NOT the way to go.
Nexus One > Desire or HD2

Tode, wait to see about the 4G if you can. If you need a phone, I'd recommend the iPhone.

I never thought I'd use half the things on it I do. Like Bakker said, simple things like checking the weather, using iFitness at the gym, iPod on bus / train / car with a transmitter. All things that you find yourself using. I have to say the backup and restore on the iPhone is brilliant too.

Seriously considering one - my contract is up in about 6 weeks.

Want to see one working in real life first, but the specs look good. Wonder what batt life is like?
