EOI: Perry Lakes electric R/c fly in / fun fly afternoon
Calling all park flyers!
Would anyone be interested in an electric R/c model fly-in / Fun fly at Perry Lakes if I were to organize it? I know there's a few closet Hobbyists amongst us, so why not get together? An example of the models that will be flying on the day (so far): Electric ducted fan jets 3d aerobatic aircraft Scale aerobatic aircraft 3d Helicopters This is open to anyone who's interested in R/c Aircraft, the more the merrier! All modelers welcome, but Electric models only to be flown on the day (2.4 Ghz radios preferred). Depending on the interest generated here & the opinions of others, I would look at arranging this for a Sunday afternoon, say 2 - 5 pm within the next 2 - 4 weeks. **Note: Pilots must be able to fly safely (i.e in front of a marked flightline) for the safety of other modelers & spectators. EDF Jet primer: Please show your interest & whether you plan to fly on the day or spectate.

+1 for spectate.
It's a hobby I've been interested in for a while but haven't done anything about, so I'd love to come and watch. Cheers, Wrxpc |

Hey, Ive wanted to get an RC plane or glider for some time, the electric ones seem to be the go these days, can anyone recommend me a brand to look at? What would I need to pay?
How good are the planes/glider is any sort of wind? Whats the range of them? I assume the plane/glider would be almost too hard to see before it got out of radio contact?

The new 2.4 ghz radios have a line of sight -digital link- with a range of approx 1.5 km.
Your best bet if you have never flown is to get a simulator for your pc, there are free ones (google: FMS), use that to get a feel for it & get the orientations down pat before buying ANY models...It will save you bulk $$ & disappointment. Your best bet for a first model is something made from EPP foam, it's pretty much unbreakable. take a look at www.hobbyking.com HTH

^^^^That is bloody awesome. Very nice flying indeed.
Are they the same planes they use for the RedBull Air Race, in a larger version of course. |
