That would indicate that your canister filter is not doing it's job properly as mine doesn't do that.

I havnt put the canister onto this tank, so its the internal only thats doing the work

What would i need it for ? how will i know i see it creates oxygen and help move water around tank.

is there somthing else that happens that makes me require it

As I said above, my cichlids were lame without a bit of water flow, plus the extra filtration is only a bonus. I know wavemakers are used more in salt water setups but have never used one personally.

Any current that breaks the surface will introduce oxygen into your water. That includes just a ripple, doesn't need to be splashing. 2 filters should be sufficient flow however providing they've got a bit of grunt.

Yeah current external filter is rated at 1000lph And i will probably order a second.
Being that there is already 1 at 1000lph probably only need another 1000lph

couldn't see needing any bigger as the two together is really 2000lph getting done one at each end to help move water
