Anyone read the report on page 10 of the latest Perth Street Car mag about new rego stickers coming with a chip in them to id your car ?
The report says new roads will have speed timers in the surface ( Bunbury Highway already done ) that will calculate your average speed over a distance and , hey presto a fine arrives in the mail !!!

but then when you get picked up and they scan it (which will become procedure) they'll tear you a new one

Didn't they just phase out the need for rego stickers?

Registration stickers a thing of the past

Nothing about cops having mobile scanners but I suppose your right,
however id rather pay a fine for no sticker than get tonnes of tickets
or even have the car confiscated or even crushed due to multiple offences.

This has been in the making for a few years now. They have magnetic markers in the road, you'll just get the fine in the mail, every single time you speed.

When the new fan dangled sticker arrives in the mail, 30sec in the microwave, problem solved.

OK, lets say that this comes in.There will be a way of insulating the chip from being read, if you get pulled over remove shielding. let cop scan rego.

1. I do see this as a double up as they read number plates to get rego details.
2. When has WA been first at this kind of thing.
