Question Best method of applying stickers?

OK folks, what's the best way of prepping the car before applying stickers??

Last time I tried this on my old car I applied some polish/wax, then gave it a light spray of mist, then put the stickers on - It didn't work very well & left some markings on the paint when i removed the stickers 2 days later (crappy polish probably didn't help).

I don't fancy fucking up the paint work this time.

Thanks.

Just wipe the surface with a lightly damp rag to clean it then go over it with a damp rag then put on the sticker and dont fuck up the angle or placement of it

I have seen people do it with quite a bit of soapy water so you can position the stickers then the water dries and hey presto!!

Thats a good idea, but wont the soapy water stay under it and leave residue making it slippery later on?

move the sticker around untill its where you want it to be, then scrape the soapy water and any air bubbles out with an expired credit card or something like that.

most people use a spray bottle with water and detergent in it spray the sticker and spray the car.. they can then slide it around once its in spot use ruler credit card somthing like that and squeze it down which pushs all the water out and then dry it.

haha, I totally thought this was going to be a sarcastic thread.

I was reading on nasioc that you have to be carefull about the type of glue they use on sticker.. ie don't use stickers not designed for cars. My cousin does vynl stickers for a couple of rally cars and uses the soapy water method.
