I'd be starting with the real basics.
Why are there these kind of people out and about the front of your house? Sounds like you live out the front of a pub. Have you and your neighbours spoken to the council/police about it and what was their response to help? Why are you living in this spot? Plenty of nice spots to live without this problem. If you can't move, can you redesign your house? I.e. proper walls, gates, garage, dogs, monitored security and proper surveillance cameras? Also, do you or have you done anything to upset people or make yourself a target?

Even if I caught someone in the act on video...and gave to police what would happen?
If underage nothing at all really but they would develop a hatred for us and maybe retaliate later. If an older lowlife then a charge of burglary, and still retaliation. This is what scares me most... THEY KNOW WHERE I LIVE. |

Yep..the answer is to buy one big angry dog, don't even put a beware sign...torment the dog once you get it ,to get that angry juice flowing through his veins (only kidding), but German Shep, Doberman, Rockw or similar will give your some peace of mind. We've always had German Sheps and no thieving problems except urine stains on my alloys.
now on the topic of litigation.. i have a cousin who's best friend's girl friend's brother heard rumbling behind his house at 1am. As it was his Uncle's house (they had gone on holidays) he was keeping an eye over it. He took his German Shepherd over the house and let loose on one of the kids who was in the front yard. Dog drew blood,,kids took off. Cops were good about it, but said if the kids file a report he could be in deep doo doo on the premise: 1) not your house , 2) no evidence of break in. Get a guard dog, but what ever you do, don't get any signs suggesting the dog may attack. If you do, you admit liablitiy and people have been known to have their dogs destroyed because of it, or worse... If you get a dog, and it 'randomly attacks' someone who comes into your property, and is has no history of doing it, and it is 'out of character' you can get away with it, most times. All this stems from US cases, which sadly make their way into our society here, thats the way the world is but..
Getting too much security, ie: high fences, camera's etc, suggests you have something to hide... these lowlifes tend to want to find out what that is... If there is a big dog, they usually won't risk it, unless their name is Usain Bolt |
