Default backyard burning

I've chopped down some trees and have a big pile of wood and shit to get rid of.
I'm thinking redneck stylez by burning it in the backyard. The council has a fine of $250 but it would probably cost more to get all that wood removed.

any backyard pyros here that can offer advice?

Chuck it out front. If its in decent sizes people will take it for firewood??

1) Do it late arvo/evening, they wont see the smoke as easily = less likely to get fined.
2) Invite all the neighbours over for a BBQ/Bonfire so they don't get shitty at all the smoke

That is all!

Didn't know it was illegal except for fire ban season.

1x 44 gallon drum and 1 cut up pagola gave a nice warm fire for a week.

Make sure your not going to set anything alight like trees, sheds....cars.

You would want to make sure the wood is very dry though. If its still got sap in the timber it's just going to smoke and annoy the hell out of the neighbours and you. If that's the case get it taken off site.

rage

ensure that nobody around you has their washing on the lines if you do so.

I have had to often rush out because of the drunken louts behind us starting a fire at 10am on a saturday.

Contact your council / fire dept / ranger.

Ask them how much a permit to burn bush is and if it is available now. Usually you get a firey over and they assess your burning capabilities and issue you a permit. They also have the time that you will be burning off registered, so you don't end up with police/fire etc at your house.

The fine for a fire is low, but then they can hit you up for other things, espescially if there is a fire ban on at the time.

In my shire, you can burn off after 6pm from memory.

Bear in mind that the fire season is starting so that may be a little different.

Jump on your local councils website, usually it will sit on the homepage, under governance or rangers.
