yea thats an activation issue. is the sim thats in there the one that came with the phone? The phone needs to activate online (in itunes) in order for the sim to be accepted by the phone.

Any tips on how I re-install the firmware as iTunes won't give any access to the phone?

Should be locked to Vodafone.

you bought the phone through vodafone though?

um, you will lose anything that is on the phone now, but you should have backups in itunes as long as you have synced recently.

what firmware was on the phone?

Angry

Ok it's now said it can't read the phones data and now decided to give me the option of "restore to factory settings" so basically all the pics etc are in never never land, so looks like I have no choice but to restore to OG settings.

Oh and it was running 3.1.3 and it was bought new from Vodafone.
