It just seems to me that they have removed the rego stickers on cars due to the massive cost of printing a sticker and then spent it on super dooper scanning technology to check if a car is unregistered. Stickers worked quite well and also let people know that their car was up for licensing. With all the issues of the DPI not sending out licensing renewals and it is up to the owner, there are just going to be more and more unlicensed cars on the road. KISS would solve this... Quote:
Any police officer doing this, grab their plates and the time and report it. Or get footage call Today Tonight and watch them turn it into a hoon story.

I'm sure peoples numberplates already have hoon type marks placed on them and these cars get greater attention then average drivers.

What's to say they won't link any registered cars owned by non licensed drivers to the database, I own 2 cars & I wouldn't drive the one I lost my license in but might I be tempted to drive the other but not with this technology out there, and at the risk of having the car impounded it's unlikely you'd be able to borrow one either.

They currently run plates manually ( ask some of the PSB boys and girls ). If the registered owner is out of class or unlicensed you do get pulled and checked. Pain in the ass if you are riding a suspended friends bike!!!
This system will do it automatically so mr plod doesn't even need to put any effort into knowing who to pull.

The cameras have been used since early 2002 and they will check the vehicle itself and also the registered owner. It can do a variety of other things if you choose to let it so they are a handy bit of kit.

I can confirm that it definitely looks up the owner details too.

Me too! Nice way of finding out your licence was suspended.
I still want to know where they send the parking ticket fines. |

I agree with 'Giddyup', regardless of situation I'm sure you'd drive you're car a lot differently if upkeep wasn't your responsibility. Having a golden ticket makes it a lot more interesting though
