Maybe they should build these reactors under water. Below sea level. A fail safe cooling system.

Tsunami would have hammered them and pushed all the radioactive material inland if they were under the sea, good thought but not practical.

Deep under ground in bunkers would be good because if they had a explosion causing leaks etc they could be sealed in concrete chambers some how and keep them buried.

All this stuff happening in Japan is ready starting to affect Australia economically due to Japan being one of our top export customers.

Not necessarily got hammered, depending on how far out to sea. A boat 20km out to sea wouldn't even notice a tsunami going past underneath. Depends on the wave base etc.

Concrete also leaks/can be penetrated by water, having them underground wouldn't make much difference.

Being under ground would make more difference than having them on the surface and having them in the sea on the ocean floor off the coast of Japan exactly where the plates move would be a massive no no.

Atleast if them are under ground you could possibly flood it with circulating water to keep it kool, yes concrete can leak but it would also help stop massive amounts of leakage to a certain degree.

I see they've upgraded the earthquake to 9.0 now, fark!!!

Anyone got any update on the Volcano at all? I'm basically watching the Japanese news and ABC 24 all day as I'm laid up again but haven't seen anything about it.
