Why the fuck is the fuel price still $1.40 per litre for unleaded (91 RON) ??
haha, compain away then sir, valid point.

what i was getting at is the people who complain away about fuel prices and drive all over town to get a few cents cheaper, then buy lunch everyday when they could make it at home cheaper, indulge in a million coffees a week etc.

The extra couple of cents doesnt shit me, ill stop at BP anyway and fill up with ultimate and wont whinge about it because my car enjoys good fuel.

Its the fact that our fuel should be around $1 (or less) a litre that shits me.

Mindsets have been changed.

$1.40-1.50 is the average price for 98 RON. Cheap fuel (98 RON) is now $1.40/L.

Prices won't fall now that consumers are used to these prices.

Yet profit margins continue to rise.
It's the same in the retail world....prices remain the same even though Retailers can get the products much cheaper now. Hence why we shop on the internet these days and Gerry Harvey cracks the shits....

I wish i could buy fuel on the internet delivered to my door......

Absolutely correct.

Does anyone remember a number of years ago when we first started seeing spikes to $1.50 a litre, and they were talking about the price going up to over $2.00 a litre? It was the head story on the news every night for weeks and weeks at a time, in the papers, etc etc. This is about the time that the government started subsidising gas conversions for vehicles.

Fast forward 5-6 years.. and it doesn't even cop a mention at the exact same price point, because people are used to it, and even then its not by choice.. its because they really don't have another alternative to fuel do they?

Google "Price Elasticity of Demand".. it explains all. I don't think any other product on earth is as "inelastic" as fuel (except for cigarettes).

It's surprising what you can get without any effort though. The last credit card wasn't worth paying the rewards annual fee so went with the free flybys points and were shopping at coles. With the mrs points going to the same flybys account we got 2 iPod classics a pizza oven and a couple of other bits and bobs for nothing other than doing what we were doing anyway.

I wouldn't go out of my way to collect them though.

Good to hear those trying the Shell 98 reckon its alright. Always used to avoid Shell when living in Adelaide cos the cars just always seemed to run as good or as far as on Mobil.

Someone just told me V-power is just 95ron with 5% ethanol, it could damage the engine. Has anyone heard about this before?
