Keep the updates and the commentary Brendon. It was great reading from the previous years that you have entered.

Yeah. Some people....
Broke a Lambo, bring an EVO. I guess the investment to get to the event and recce and reservation would've warranted. Tas would be a $20k investment before you turn a wheel. |

Times for Brendo for TS3 are out a bit. Shows 2:08 lag from the leaders.

^^^ Yep he blew an intercooler hose on Sheffield. Devastating. Could have happened on either the stage before or after with much less loss. Sheffield is one of the longer ones for the day. Very disappointing to happen so early in the event. He just cant seem to get a break. I am sure Brendon will update.

Yep. Dont know why but a hose blew off. Never happened before. I doubt it was the mechanics because it did the media day at symmons, prologue and then two (albeit short and slow) stages this morning. Fixed it at the end of the stage amd been all good since. Never driven a car without a working turbo. Weird feeling, thing just wouldnt rev past about 3 000 rpm and had next to no torque. In some spots the fastest it would let me go was 40 kph but on a downhill section still hit 150. In the scheme of thngs its probably not a massive deal. We were never going to catch the top 5 so would of liked to be 6th. By the end of today we are back up to 9th. Hopefully by tomorrow we can round up bush in another evo x and get close to purdey in another r35. That will get us to 7th and see what happens after that.
A couple of pretty big crashes. Kennards sti hatch took a big hit to the 'a' pillar and realistically will need to be re shelled. The leading early modern evo 6 chucked a leg out of bed on the first stage amd spilled oil everywhere. A vn group a ss was deep in the bush. Didnt look to bad but will no doubt do some damage getting it out. An old gemini did 4 rolls and looks ugly. Went past something else totally missing the front end. Dont know what it was. The leading 2wd showroom megane thing went straight on over a hump. They pulled it out and it limped through a few stages with a mountain of race tape and about 30 degrees negative camber on one wheel. Touch wood i dont think anyone was injured. Rocked up at silverdome tonight and was directed over to a special area... Seemingly cams were there and the top 10 or so cars in modern were being pulled apart for checking. Was interesting as it is the first time it has happened to me. They weighed us but didnt check fuel level, spare tyre, whether we had 30 kilos of lead in the back etc. they did stroke tests, checked for underbody braces, suspension mounting points etc. We were 100% fine but seemingly a couple of people are in a bit of trouble. Will see the fallout tomorrow. One thing that was glaringly obvious was how little attention some seriously fast people are paying to getting weight out of a car. Eg Quinn's gtr was 1800kg's. I havent worked out the minimum weight but i have no doubt it could be a lot lighter than that. Purdey's gtr was 1745. I didnt see Sims but i reckon it would have been lighter again. Massive rumours around about the future of the event and the series seeing as numbers are pretty low this year. New owners. Looks like (but nothing confirmed) that adelaide will disapear and high country will go to three days. Its an interesting subject. In my opinion there are 2 clear demographics. The old dudes that sew their targa competitor patches on the race suit every year and dont really care about the results and are more interested in socialising versus the guys like myself who whilst social just want to go fast on amazing roads. Anyways onwards and upwards tomorrow! Brendon

Here are some photos. This is my mates evo x after arguing with a fence post and getting bogged in a field... Both rear doors, 2 rims, the exhaust and a bit of panel damage but he will be restarting tomorrow.
