Sorry to say but tahiti is not even worth going to, was a complete shock to me! Moorea and bora bora are the only two places i would go back to.

Moorea had an awesome half day quad bike tour! As for the surf, what surf? It was as calm as it could ever be! Not a surfing destination, the reef is a ring around the island which breaks the waves! But possibly the best snorkeling with the most colourful reef you can see!

Tahiti has a very overpriced and clean looking row of shops on the dock, but once you get behind that it is run down and sick homeless people lining the footpath. A bit freaky!

My photos were from Bora Bora. We did a day trip to Maupiti which was also nice.

Papeete (Tahiti) is a stopover on the way, but yes not somewhere you would stay for very long!

EDIT: I see where the confusion came in, I stuffed up in my previous post.

Driving up using the crazy, windy, random back roads that no one much uses anymore.

Driving up those roads at night with my cousin who knows the roads like the back of his hand, and dives accordingly.

Or just taking a helicopter trip over the mountains & national park.

One of the nicest places Ive visited recently was Hawaii.

While Honolulu can get a bit hectic it all depends what you want. It has soo much history and culture if you make the effort to get out of town, over to the north shore etc.

Myself and fiance spent more time in Maui and the Big Island (actually called Hawaii).

Both those places are magic, waaay less people around. (950,000 out of 1.3M live on the island of Oahu, where Honolulu is).

To put that in perspective, Maui has a population of 150,000, Big Island 185,000. All the others are under 100,000.

Islands are alot bigger than Tahiti too, as soon as you get out of the regional capitals (were talking under 100,000) its country side, ranches and beautiful small towns. Some areas remined me of rural Bali, but clean and affluent.

I could easy live there.
