i've been very impressed with it. gets 700km to a tank (of 98) and is a very comfy daily. no problems except the front right speaker has started to cut out (oem stereo system)

No problems to reports so far so good(touchwood), tho I think the older models had DSG gearbox problems and would melt pistons

Does 950km to a tank, has bluetooth and above average oem sound system

hey guys ended up getting a my10 polo gti about a month ago ! Great car but it did seam to burn up oil quickly and anyhow after only 20 days of driving the car started playing up engine light and struggling ect. Took it to the mechanics under warranty and .... the engine has blown ! Now just waiting on where the work will be done

Oh, those Gti's have the CAVE engine.
Did you not read anything on Rexxar's link?

We had a Golf Tdi and currently have a MY2013 Polo Gti - but that has the CTHE twin charged 1.4L. Still not trouble free, but not the appalling oil usage of your model.

Best of luck. Good new about the warranty

tbh think we had bought the gti b4 the link was posted

CAVE engine ?
CTHE twin charged ?

Doesn't sound good was wondering maybe we can sell it back to the dealer and get another car. Didn't know the my10's had so many problems ? However getting a new engine installed and they said it was going to cost 8000. So wonder if its worth keeping or going for something else more reliable

I have the 2L 420 TDI amarok 8 speed auto.
Fucking awesome. Just ticked over 40k kms, hasn't missed a beat. It's a pity about the smaller petrol motors having issues.

In 1.4L veedub land, the CTHE was the updated replacement that "fixed" the problems with the earlier CAVE engine (sort of the EJ207 in Polo terms).

Cost $8k - is that to them or you? Thought you had warranty?
Worth getting details on what exactly they are going to do with regards to fixing it, e.g. partial/full rebuild, or wrecker used engine.
