Default Long service leave

I figured someone on here should be able to help me. I have been at my current work for just over 7 years and have told them im leaving, my boss brought up long service pro-rata and said I might be able to get it. I had a look on the internet and found that in 2006 long service changed from 15 years to 10 years and pro-rata from 10 years to 7 years.

Because I started before the change am I still on 10 years pro-rata or 7?

Thanks in advance

It also depends on your company's contract and policies. My company changed from 10years to 15 years for LSL!

It depends on the company, but if the terms were 15 years when you started and thats your contract at which point your qualifying period is 10 years, they can hold it to that rather than revert back to 10 years.

But if the contract was for 10 years, then giddy up you'll get 6 weeks and change pay out (and taxed like a motha on the lump sum).

You should get pro-rata no matter what is stated in any contract, Contact Wageline to check what your entitlements are if you're unsure.

So much for long service being a bonus for being at a place for a long time!!! I thought the idea was that you are rewarded for staying at a company for 10 or 15 or what ever the amount of years is. (not having a go at anyone just the bloody system)
