That sounds like a really good idea. But I've already decided what to do. This guy from Nigeria will give me a million he just needs some cash to get his account released as it's currently frozen - so I'll go this route...higher return.

2.9% on an unsecured personal loan?!?!? there will be a catch somewhere, miss the 24 month payment deadline and interest might be charged at an excessively high rate on the entire loan or something

2.9% is crazy, that is costing them money

I know Rob, awesome deal isn't it if you want in I'm sure he's got more frozen accounts

After 24months it is the standard rate of 19%. So yeh, you definitely want to pay it out in 2years.

A lot of car sellers and lenders are offering 'low' interest rate deals to move stock at the moment. Some of them are like the Harvey Norman 'no interest for 2 years' kinda deals where they ass rape you after that. Others are it is better for the dealer to move the stock on than sit on it paying more interest again.

Shop around and find the best deal for yourself.

be very wary of Citibank and read the fine print and all conditions over and over and make sure you understand everything! Citibank are notorious for ripping people off, my partner works in credit society and the number of people that come in to refinance Citibank, GE, etc is huge.

be careful.

also if you take $10k at 2.9% interest and put that 10k into 5.9% term deposit you are making money hence you will need to pay tax on the difference (minus fees and charges etc)

Correct^
If you could borrow and place it in a 100% home loan offset account however, no tax is paid as you are saving on interest, rather than being paid it.
