so all you haters are basically saying that you will have the following before having kids;

1. Private Health full cover
2. Manageble Mortgage reapayments
3. $30,000.00 to pay for OB and Birth etc (can't claim medicare as that would be a handout)
4. $10-15,000.00 for the mod cons that go with having your first child - you know bed, clothes etc - luxuries
5. $15,000.00 cash saved to cover the minimum time off a new mother should probably have (based on $80k salary for 3 months) - or are you suggesting that the mother of your child (whom I assume you may actually love and care about) should pop the kid and go back to work the same day?

No we did not recieve any handouts for either of our kids
Yes my wife went back to work within 3 months of our first child
No my wife does not currently work and has not for 4 1/2 years by our choice
Yes my wife will go back to work as she has a brain and enjoys using it

Should we have paid maternity leave? Sure why not?

First homebuyers grant? complete bullshit - if you can't save a deposit how can you service a mortgage?
Medicare??? without medicare would doctors have to take a pay cut? they are doctors not gods
Free education??? should we scrap that too? all kids should be home schooled if you choose to have you teach them

So boys my comment would be the following - Man up, be a gentleman instead of a roid raging knob, show a level of maturity and treat women properly - if someone squeezes out one of your sprogs show them the respect they deserve by giving your partner time with your child to help bond and raise them as decent members of society not the current batch of 13-26 year olds that punch, glass, king hit, rob, bash, rape etc.

I will bet that not one person on here would knock back paid parental leave if offered. so stop for a moment being a self riteous asshole and appreciate that not every person on the planet has the earning potential to have the butler look after their first born and some people genuinely do it tough.

I was suggesting that family subsidising didn't exist for many before and I wonder why it does now.

Further example, I dont get carbon tax compensation because I don't have children at home but I pay maintenance and continue to support my young adult children by paying their medical insurance, uni fees and requirements etc.

What makes anyone so special by having children?
