As much as I love supporting local buinesses/ jobs etc I do draw the line at vehicles! hopefully this will improve our car market! we pay WAY too much for cars here!!!

PS as a CUB myself, will stick with import related cars!

Commodore to be replaced by the Epsilon platform. Long overdue and they've been working on it for years now. This was just kicking off back around '95 about the same time they introduced the Vectra.

Losing jobs and cutbacks is not something Holden takes lightly. I'd expect they would not be dropping assembly lines but rather replacing the models with the next thing. What they can't control though is the market response to a FWD mainstream car. I believe times have changed. If you take the bogan factor out of it, a lot of people couldn't care less about which wheels are spinning. Hopefully the sales volumes will continue and people will keep their jobs here.
FWD platforms also have manufacture cost savings. It might be a step in the right direction to make us more competitive.
