Oh yeah. I heard that becomes the case. Just look at the Lada Niva and Subaru Leone. It worked out well for those fine pieces of motoring history.

i'm banking on with the demise of commodore/falcon- with no other equivalent for size/style/cost/performance being an affordable v8, I think they will hold their value somewhat for the loyal knuckle draggers, I doubt the euro market will fill the void- servicing costs are too high, it seems the JDM options don't have the displacement, everything is just getting smaller!

looking forward to the price drop on euro imports
but i doubt that will happen as the feds seems to always find away to throw $ away, just to keep the today tonight / ACA watching crowd happy even if its a meaningless short term gain, if you can call it that

Not surprised that the falcon is going, poor build quality should of seen it killed off years ago! But the commodore is still the 4th highest selling car in oz. You would think with the extra sales it will pick up with the demise of the falcon that they would keep it going. It's the only car in their lineup that I would consider buying, everything else is soundly beaten by other cars in their class.

It's not an efficient use of space given what the current market can provide. They're also thirsty. We are trending more towards the euro/asia pacific region then we are to USA. Kato has it right. Iconic/Hero models will be introduced, and the mainstream sales will be small/mid size cars.

Just another nail in the economic coffin. The cost of living here and high Au$ makes manufacturing difficult. Added to that the fact such a large % of Aussies are only patriotic one day a year and don't support Aussie products. I find it ironic one of the reasons the Holden engine plant is I doubt is because the Chinese Govt won't buy vehicles from companies that aren't Chinese owned. Our Govts don't even buy the very Aussie built cars they are supporting in grants etc.
Can't believe there are so many people here happy to see 1000s or Aussies out of work in a few years. Ahhh well guess our taxes will keep them on the dole.

market economies are generally not patriotic
also the australian federal government depts here cant purchase the offerings from ford and holden because they dont meet the green guidelines produced by the government, thus the reason our idiot government is looking to end the 5 star scheme

Agreed with the crazy green guidelines.

Just hope the world resources market does turn away from our very expensive to produce Iron Ore etc.
