I've put USB keys through the wash and they come out fine (nice and clean, but the dirty porn stays), but when you've snapped in male end of it, not as easy. Doable .. but who's to say even if you did fix the connector, you put it into a computer and then it say 'Drive not formatted, format drive?'

Good luck!

The only concern with some of these operators is that there is a risk of doing further harm when doing repairs.

Just a bit of an update on the USB sticks.
I have been able to use one of the spare sticks that Tino has provided to act as a donor, at this point in time all data has been recovered and is currently being burnt to a DVD.

Had another request yesterday to have a look at another USB drive that failing to connect to the computer.
Assumed worst case that the brains of the drive were cactus and that a memory transplant would need to take place.
Opened it up tonight to discover that two of the pads holding the data lines down on the usb connector were cold joints and had broken free, simple fix and working straight away.

So just a heads up for people to please be nice to their usb drives when transporting, inserting and removing them.
