Support for Windows XP is ending

Upgrade to Win7 etc... move to Mac OS... or install Linux... just get off XP if you still have it.


While you're at it, if you have windows, do yourself a favour and get the Secunia PSI to look for other "vulnerable software" on your windows box.

This was all over Reddit awhile back, read an article someone posted about it which actually had some good points on how Microsoft is bullying their customers, who mind you have already paid for a product with them into paying to upgrade to a newer version OS without offering either a cheaper price or a free transfer from XP to say Win7 etc.

Other companies have been shown to stick it out with customer support on their products for the lifetime of it, I mean it's been over 10 years sure, but to suddenly drop protection and support for people still using XP is just sucky imo. Poor effort Microsoft.

I use 7, would recmmend for anyone wanting to upgrade, practically the same thing. I dislike windows 8, just too touch screen orientated for my taste.

I wouldn't say it's sudden, they announced this long ago.

It's not like suddenly you don't have a working product, you still have what you paid for, and it's probably safe to say that for the vast majority of people on XP this will go completely unnoticed and won't affect them

It's unfair to expect Microsoft or anyone for that matter to commit resources to software support and updates for an infinite amount of time.

I'm not asking them to continue to look after an out dated product but I just feel the way they are handling it with the only solution being a mandatory upgrade out of your own pocket is a bit shitty to their loyal customers, don't you agree?

I mean you'd be pretty pissed it for say you used 98 fuel in your car, come 10 years time they have like 108 (hypothetically) and they say they aren't going to supply 98 anymore, you need to use 108, but your car only takes the 98 so you have to upgrade.

Shit analogy I know but you get the point, some people might find it unfair, I couldn't care less about it, I upgraded once 7 came available haha
