Ducted Airconditioning
Did a quick search and couldn't find anything about this..
The Mrs is after a reputable (but affordable) company to install a ducted air conditioning system in her 3x2 House. Basically I'm keen to hear from anybody who has recently done this and what they paid and who they used. :-)

Will shoot you a PM for Reddragon 2002's uncle's who recently installed my 2 split systems. The service is epic (next day in my case!) and really nice blokes too.

Just got a 9 outlet Breezair evap put into my 4x2, been doing the job very well since the start of December. Haven't got my first power bill with it yet but it's supposedly worth 40c an hour (give or take) to run. Pretty cheap compared to a reverse cycle worth around $1 an hour to run! House has been very comfortable since getting it (used to just have a 3.5kw wall unit) and its pretty silent too.
Got it through my uncle, he started an aircon company a few years back, that does everything from manufacture of the ducting all the way through to install. They're a bit busy at the moment, but he's always happy to take on more work. He normally stocks panasonic ducted units and can put them in at a decent price, but can get anything else requested. His business website is =http://gmtair.com.au/ If you go through him, mention my name (Jeremy Toland) and he will look after you. Last edited by Jezza; 14-10-2012 at 08:06 PM. |

love my ducted rev-c, but i thought it would have been much more costly to run vs. a swampy than that. Only about twice the cost doesnt sound too bad!
anyway, what type of ducted system are you looking for mitchwnz? |

evap is much better if you have sinus problems.

I steered clear of the reverse cycle as my neighbour got one installed last summer;
Its just him in the house and he only used it when really needed etc - his power bills were $500-600 bimonthly over summer. Stuff that! As long as your outlets, unit and ducting are sized correctly, an evap system will maintain sufficient airflow to not make the house seem like a 'swamp'. Instead it feels like living near the coast. |

Oh and Mitch - My evap retailed for approx $4500. I fairly sure inverters are almost double that figure for a similar spec
