We looked at the split system option.. but we would need to buy three of them.. one for each bedroom (one of which is used as the office, and the other when we have guests staying). Multi Zone Ducted would easily be our best option.. we need something that we can switch off rooms/zones when not in use.. i.e we don't always use the guest room, but need our visitors to be comfortable if required.

My house has independent refrigerated and evaporative systems.
Refrig always works, evap -sometimes, depends on humidity.
The refrig system (about 10kW) would cost about $2 per hour if running full time. Evap (about 250watts) costs about $2 per typical day.
If I were choosing just one- for a residence go evap. For an office when you need to work and think during the day you need refrig air-con.

I just had a 5kw Daikin ducted R/C installed last month. 10 outlets, 6 zones for 4x2. Paid $11500 from Joondalup Daikin. Had no problems...

Depends on gas type and amount needed ...

As far as evap vs refridge

Evap doesn't work in humidity so generally we tell people to get refridge but I have evap at home and if u get it on really early and keep house cool to start then it's ok .. Saying that you should do that will all ac's to get best power consumption

duscted system= comfortable if you are willing to pay for the bills. also remember that if you have a problem with the unit, you don't have a/c in your house untill fixed. also just thinking of the ducting also over years not sure if the ducting would go shitty after a while due to heat in the roof ect.

and for those worried about power bills on a 3 horse panasonic for e.g im sure that the power isn't that bad being an inverter also... it has the new function of patrol sensor so if no one is in the area it works accordingly ect.

mitch also imo whats wrong with 3 splits? i think would work out cheaper than ducted and also if you don't use an area obvously you don't have to turn it on. + cheaper to run also. if a unit breaks down, you still have 2 units working

our install price is 550 for 1.5 h under and 650 for 2 h and above. work out what you save ect speak to mic (MY99GT) and ask him i think we installed 2 for him already.

I 2nd that ^ ^

I have the big Panasonic Inverter installed and its fantastic (also had a little Teco unit installed.. which is shite in comparison). Can't recommend T&J South Air Services enough. Epic service.
