Thanks guys,
200m - 300m is probably the max distance for quality spot / flood lighting in rallying you 'need', as such, that's what good notes are for..... ;-)
Rallysprint and the like, its 50-100m Flood..

Relative lateral vision through flood is probably the most important at about 50-100m coming into a corner. From what I've seen the 10w bars seem to be pretty good, but 20inch would be max total width I could probably go... I've also seen the ones that are bent / curved, which could be better for the angle into the corner? Food for thought...

As with everything, generally it always come back to cost being on a linear curve to quality. However, being in direct harms way on the front of the car, value for money is also an important consideration..

lachy, be interested in what you guys had on.. Do you have any in car footage from night stages of targa?

Cheers all

The LED bar was that bright and had a decent spread that you didnt receive any extra light when the high beams of the car were turned on. We had it mounted to the number plate bolt holes.

Not that I've tried them but these might be worth a look, The Retrofit Source | Innovative Headlight Upgrades
Double LEDs means they are the 3watt ones. The 10w ones have far less LEDs but are insane at night. For racing I would try a few cheap 10w eBay light bars. Maybe a few 10" ones. Cheap as chips but unbelievable light!
