nah mate. the bios reads that theres a HDD and a CDRW drive but no matter what i do it wont boot to cd, i'v got a mte comming over later that lives down the road (save you the hassle) but im gona try to formate n partition the HDD on my old system now.

Some BIOS's will only allow booting from the primary device on an IDE cable.
That is, some machines have 2 IDE cables inside. The HDD is the primary device on one, and the CD is the primary device on the other. If your motherboard has the second IDE cable, then try configuring your CD drive as a primary device (that is MASTER not SLAVE) and hook it up to the second IDE cable. As opposed to being the SLAVE on the primary cable. Of course, if your HDD is SATA then this is a little different. This quirk generally only affects older motherboards...
