Payment of Traffic Infringement
Hi guys,
Hoping someone here can give me some advise. I got a 2nd notice to pay a speeding fine because I forgot to pay the first time around. So I sent the infringement notice off with my credit card details to the to the infringement payment centre about 2 weeks ago, well before the due date. I noticed today that no money was deducted from my credit card so i ring them up today to ask them if they have received the payment. Apparently they haven't because the fine is still outstanding. The lady on the phone said I have to write to them explaining the situation because the due date has now passed and the fine will proceed to the fine enforcement registry. Damm it! Is there anything I can do other than write to them and hope they respond? |

Have u tried either going to your local police station in person and asking them the question, obviously they would all use the same system. Failing that, have you looked on the internet, sometimes you can lodge payments over the net.
Dunno if that helps you out or not...........

I dont remember there was an option to send in payment via post for paying fines
It was either paying at the licensing centre or post office |

This is fkn utter bullshit. DPI always fuck up, and if they do, you have to put it all in writing to explain their fuck up.
Makes my blood boil. Happened to me when they continued to send me fines to an address that I don't live at anymore... they arked up about me not paying fines, but I simply told them I haven't received them. Time passed, and I eventually shoved it up their arse when I provided an email which was sent to the DPI outlining that I had infact moved house, and requested that my lisence and postal address be changed. Just because the idiots "lost my request" doesnt mean I'm liable. Idiots. Seeing as emails are now legally binding documents, there was fuck all they could do about it. Death to the DPI! /rant off. Put it in writing, jump up and down and complain loudly, and they'll let you off with the normal cost of the fine without the admin charges. If they want their extra $12.50 or whatever the admin cost is, then tell them they'll have to take you to court for it (too costly so they wont). Just make sure you keep records of everything. GL!

You're lucky they didnt take that road, otherwise you woulda been fkucked!! Cos legally, if you move/change address, you have to notify DPI in order for them to issue a change of address sticker.
