Look at it this way son. If u write it off, and find out its not an RS they don't have to pay u out a cent, and still get to keep your premium. As ppl have said above, if you can't afford full cover then u should have a car. only time i'd ever get third party is in a 2k shit box. Listing yoru conversion usually doesn't end up costing that much, sometimes ends up being cheaper. I know some1 that priced up having a RX conversion to a WRX and it ended up cheaper than insuring a WRX.

adam,

shannons would be good.. but as you said, have to wait til 25!!... one more year for me ... best bet is Rac they seem to give a chance to the scooby clan... and please do comprehensive ...

a good example when third party should be used. a mate with his first car being a Very Clammy (vc) commonwhore.... he had full comprehensive ins. car was only worth 2k at least.. silly move esp with premiums hitting near 1k per year.. still got a payout when it got rear ended.. but he owned it for like 3 years.. so he prob paid once over with premiums hehe

good to see a libby lining up next to the wrp10

Under the Duty of disclosure, which is wot the insurance company quotes to your b4 u take out the policy, u must be 100% truthful in the info u give em. Failure to do this may result in the claim not being payed out in the event one is made. As i work for SGIO i wud recommend you tell em exactly wot u have. You may be surprised as sum insurance companies dont class the liberty turbos as sports cars therefore reducing premiums.

Definently shop around!
Hope this helps mate

Well done on the purchase Adam!! The old boy not ready to part with the rex yet???
Mate in my opinion whether or not I got full comprehensive insurance over 3rd party would depend on how much I spent on the car. 10k or under I would only get 3rd party, if you do have an accident (hopefully never!) usually they are only fender benders when your younger which would cost less than 2k to fix and the other car is covered. Try HBF mate they are the only ones that would insure me for the STi, at SGIO they wouldn't insure anyone under 30 for my car.

try Just Cars they will have fairly reasonable premiums. Keep in mind excesses will be sky high but thats alright if you dont crash

Paul, on these forums works for an insurance company and he was telling me that they have things that flag up when a claim is made, and they investigate nearly all claims made, and look for a way to get out of paying it.

So if i were u Adam, i would just get ur old boy to insure the car in his name, making u the full time driver (the more u drive the car the more it will cost to insure) (when i had my mazda i was a 10% driver, which means i could drive it for 15 hours out of every week, including having it in my posession * not that i did *)

But even still, just get ur old man to insure it, and list u as a driver, its the easiest and cheapest way to sort it out, or even do a "joint" policy. Which is what i ended up doing and that way you can build up a no claim bonus and insurance history for when your ready.

A) RAC wouldn't insure that car
b)RAC will charge you the same regardless of who's name is on the policy. Your still young driver so you pay the $$.

No one likes paying for insurance man....it's one of those begrudging purchases you make cause it's better than NOT having it.

its not like you have to pay for the full year at once anyway, get it taken out monthly and you will hardly notice the money leaving your account. you'd be very foolish to think you wont have a accident
