Also watch for the rear outer door handles falling off and the rear door actuators failing. There also not that efficient, when I used to have one as a company car back in 2008 even taking it easy couldn't get any better then 13-14L per 100km. Also look out for injection pump oil leaks and front timing cover leaks. But as mentioned the main problem is the timing chain noise as there is no easy fix.

these things sound like a time bomb waiting to go off maybe I should look for a different car for the misses

Wise. Perhaps spend the little extra, that way you can say you spent more on her and score points. Prados are very nice.
