yeah i reckon the newest IXUS. I think there is an IXUS 75 or something? for less than $550ish. My ixus 65 is awesome! So i imagine the 75 would be even better. I think there are some higher range canon P&S's also but for the price cant go wrong with the 75 i'd say

Canon Ixus 850 IS.. LOVE this camera! Bought it in Singapore a few months ago, and it took 10 nights of photos in drunken conditions - It was dropped most nights, beaten, exposed to all kinds of weather, and it is still going strong today.

Dont forget the image stabiliser - Very handy in low light conditions. Shits all over the Sony I used to have.

Bloody bargain at $450.

Have a look as there's quite a few that do different things (obviously!). The 850 IS is great in low light, has macro settings and a descent zoom. It's easy to use and carries a 7.1MP sensor and leather carry case.

Aussie ebay is probably your best bet - Hong Kong direct ftw.

Otherwise if you want to shop locally (i.e. Perth somewhere) cameraland camera house in leederville is where I got mine. Cheapest price at the time and I rang a fair few shops.
