Default Slide to PC?

What is the easiest and cheapest way of getting Slides copied onto your PC or a CD? I'm guessing you a specific type of hardware? Are there shops in Perth that specialise in doing this? Also any idea of cost? Can a home scanner scan slides?

there are special film and slide scanners that cost a lot if they are any good, or you can buy certain mid level scanners with film attachments that do a reasonable job.

my scanner was 200 bucks and can scan 3 35mm film strips for example.

Negative slides about the size of a matchbox, you slide into a projector and then it displays it as a large photo on a screen. Old technology!

Buy a scanner which can take slides, as stated above.

Or, go to a photography store - Most will be able to do it, or at least put you onto someone who can.

I've got a scanner HP Photosmart C5280 - trying to figure out if it can scan Slides. Not finding much on Google about it.

Before all these DSLRs came along there was this stuff called film...

Slide film is the opposite of the negatives you would be used to getting when you have a roll of film - it is the positive of an image, a lot of commercial jobs still need it today for it's amazing quality. I still have some in a fridge somewhere...should really use it up at some stage!

Either get yourself a scanner that will scan negatives and slides (may list it as the "positive" in the settings) or if you want a good quality version take it to a lab like Fitzgeralds or Churchills. I had a cheap Epson scanner years ago that did it, was about $300 when I bought it. If you're not printing it big that will do the job fine.
