Default Point & Shoot

Hey guys,

Been doing a bit of research into a good P&S Camera for myself. Love photography, would really like a DSLR, but at this stage, I don't have the funds to do it. Plus they are a bit bulky for what I really want.

It has been ages since I have bought a camera, so I have no idea what is a good brand and what isn't these days.

Just looking for something that produces good pics (maybe some that I can get blown up a little bit and printed) and one with a decent optical zoom, as well as night mode (with shutter speed or something similar)

Any recommendations would be great.

Looking at spending around $500ish

Kym

I was looking at either the Pansonic Lumix Range, or the Olympus Range. both have the pros and cons, but app the the Lumix has the better lens..... I ended up getting a Olympus Tough 1030SW Underwater Camera for a complete change, its not bad for a shock proof, water proof, dust proof camera, the size of a cigarette packet.

Kodak Easyshare V610?

Check Ebay out. 6.1 MP, custom settings, panaromama left right/right left is one of them.

takes video too. and upgrade the sd card and your set.

I got that one for my bday and its pretty good for a PS camera.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 is very cool... gives you alot of control if you want to get into the DSLR sceen and oly round $500 i think...
other than that maybe the G9 by Cannon....

those above both have aperture contol
i have a Canon 860IS and its geart... no aperture contoll but perfect point and shoot... wideangle lense, good clear pictures.... tho i think its been replaced with the 870is now

if you want tiny-spec then Canon Ixus 90 maybe?? has IS, 10mp etc.. not sure about the shutter speeds etc though... cheap as chips tho, about $260-270

Don't think you can dismiss Nikon/Canon P&S...
