Instead of starting another thread....

What am I doing wrong?
Using Aperture Priority and no matter how open I have the F Stop In this case 1.8 It still is really over exposed.

Any good reference sites / tips you guys can give me?

The camera is exposing for the play equipment which is in shade... the background will always be overexposed in this situation.

The only way to get close to an overall even exposure is to use a flash - expose for the background/sky and use the flash to fill in the foreground.

It looks like it's set to centre weighted metering too. Try a more even metering pattern and that might help a little.

But as trolley said, flash would do a better job. Failing that I'd take the shot in manual and adjust in PP.

Does the 2 EV in your thingy mean +2 EV? That won't be helping.

What Kato said.
Image definitely looks like you've got +2EV exposure compensation set.

OK Next retarded question because the book is too thick. How do I stop compensating for it? (Awaiting John's response on the way that's worded!)

Just turn the back dial. If you press the +/- button, then turn the dial, you'll adjust flash compensation.
