Default Thinking of upgrading my 350D to a 7D

So I am thinking of spreading the word to the missus and family that I wouldn't mind Santa bringing me a new Canon DSLR Body.

I would love a 5D but just can't justify the price at this point in time.

So I am thinking of the 7D.

I like the idea of a 6D but the only thing I can really see going for it is a full frame sensor which I just aren't too sure if that's what is really important when looking at a new DSLR.

So thoughts on the 7D... Good idea or not?

Cheers

IMO, spend the money on a decent lens. You will probably see more improvement over upgrading the body. I guess it depends on what lens you get with the 7D however.

ie. looking at a kit or body only?

Body only, have enough Lens. Mainly have USM and IS lens so it is time for the body.

Very happy with my 7D, not yet looked at the 6D. Full sensor is tempting, but also engoy the "free" zoom the croping that the smaller sensor provides.

I have had a 7d from when they first came out, they are a great camera. Love the 8 frames a second for fast action shots.

Also love my 100-400 l lens which goes with my my 7D, although not so keen on the lens weight.

If and when I ever bother upgrading my 350D, I'm going full frame loving.

5D Mk2
6D
5D Mk3 if I sell some crack on the side.

7D is a cool camera, which can take fast shots... But comparing the colours of a 5D to it, it is worth the extra expense to upgrade to one of them.

If I ever wanted to start photography with a cannon would definitely get a 7D or if you want a Nikon get a D7000(which is what I have)

5d MK2 are very cheap compared to what they were last year

On ebay/grey imports are going for 1.5-1.7k as Canon recently stop making them.
