Stills from video

Hey,
I took a whole bunch of video with my Gopro camera (in full HD) but I'd like to take a few still shots from the video, but I am struggling to get some good quality stills - every time I have tried they don't come out all that sharp.
Anyone know of, or got some good software for this?
