I also wanted to do something a little different this time, I wanted to capture the culture of the event, and not just the sport itself. All I know is, with stars, you have to find a balance between a slow enough shutter speed to let in enough light, but not too slow that the stars blur because of Earths rotation. (on 30sec shutter speed they blur)

if you want to get serious about taking photos of the stars you need a telescope with a camera mount and one of those tracking devices so it follows them.
