I'm a big fan of how the colour of the sky has turned out.
These 2 are HDRi's... plenty of tutorials around the internets.

Basically i merged three exposure's using photomatix the did some finer touches in PS.

Seconded. Got a real taste for photography when i had my Canon 550D, but had to sell it as i'm skint Regretted it ever since.

I know, the 550D is real basic.. but i thought it was awesome as my 1st DSLR .

In some ways it does help and in some ways its just an excuse. If you have a look around on flickr and some of the international forums there a 'togs out there producing some amazing work with only using the basics. A camera cannot create composition, where a photographer can.

true kym 5d helps and probably more so the L series but you dont have to win lotto to buy it.

i used to hire 70-200 f2.8 is for about $70 for the weekend and throw it on my old 400d to get some portraits done, get money and save up for one of my own.

perhaps pwrx lens hire centre. There might be some users who dont mind lending a lens for a carton or eqv. for a day or two?

2 saturdays ago i did my wedding number 12 and well and truly paid for my own equipment by now

I think the illusion is that photo quality increases with the quality of the camera, but really, most people can't justify buying the good gear until they know how to use it and can make the most of it.
Both of the shots Corbin posted could be recreated on a 500d with a 10-22mm lens and I'd think with the right processing you would find it hard to tell the difference. (Particularly a web size image).
Its all down to the photographer really. The only thing you find hard to recreate on cheap gear is shallow depth of field (Good Bokeh).
Learn light and learn photoshop and the rest is lots of experimentation.

Matty, love those shots... PS: where were my KK's cnt?

Sleepy, hit the nail on the head. Clarity is the only thing 'better' gear offers.

Over even worse, sudden urge to get into photography, buy decent gear, snap away on auto mode, blame camera when photo is shit.
