wow this thread is still going?!....

No such thing as an HDR camera... it just means it has bracketing built in (old feature) and can shoot quicker. Same goes for the Pentax, it's in-camera software that recovers highlights and brightens up shadows (NOT HDR). This is available in all new cameras now anyway.

This a 3 shot HDR using Nikon D3

and this is a 3 shot HDR using a Nikon D200

HDR has pretty much come and gone, it's a fad that will be left behind (much like the gay selective colouring). The new IN-THING with photography is high ISO, clean shots, handheld and freezing motion....

Something like this... ISO6400, 1/60, F2.8

How the hell did you get no/minimal noise at IS06400? One word = Awesome

There is some very fancy software that can remove noise easily, but you'd want to start with a good image to begin with. The latest gen of sensors can do 6400 with varying levels of noise, there are lots of reviews comparing the cameras with 100% crops to show the noise levels.

I don't think hdri is a fad at all though. I think its the future still, as we move toward display devices that can actually output high dynamics, right now we are just compressing hdri to fit into a ldr display.

And as for the k20d not doing true hdri, its my understanding that it can dynamically alter the iso level per pixel on the sensor... however i don't know enough about it to start arguing with you, methd... but if i'm correct then its pretty amazing, and if your correct then yes 'big deal'

Be very interested in any articles about the k20d that deal with this feature in more detail, so far all reviews i've seen have glossed over that.

not a fan of surreal HDRs mostly it can work in some photos but on the whole doesnt look very good, The Pentax HDR imo is just 3 bracketed shots combined in camera which is giving you a larger dynamic range but nothing that cant be done afterwards.

Nikon D3 is the answer no noise reduction used there... or check this little blog here for 25,600 ISO shots with no noise reduction.

looks pretty awesome - but your not really able to judge noise on resized images... the d3 is a $5.5k camera too :P

love tha pics posted hien....also bracketing is only resolved at -1 and +1 for d300 which sucks....I think the d200 had better up to 2 stops.. oh well it can still work out...
